Silver Lining EPS 7: YSEALI Academic Fellowship Journey
Hi, dude. How's it going? Welcome to my bounce-back era Hahahaha 😂I hope you're always happy and healthy. Today, I want to share my story about the YSEALI journey. It may help you to apply that activity later. The way I see it "it's just a long journey" I started in 2019, and I failed more than 3 times, but it's okay, I have to get used to failure. So, What is the YSEALI Academic Fellowship? Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative, Is like a youth student exchange agenda in the USA for 5 weeks. I tried many times but this year I got it! A lot of people may not know my process, making me think that the process is the important part if you want to do something.

I'm so tired bruh! everyone only knows the result but in fact, I'm struggling. I have to do a,b,c,d, etc, but you know? I still like the way I did. Since I know YSEALI is a program for young people, I've always been curious about how the program works. Once, I got the notification from the U.S. embassy in Jakarta that I had been selected for an interview in 2022, I failed suddenly. Yah! I don't think it will be an easy step. I'm okay If I fail again, I can accept it all. I don't want to stop there, even though I know there will be a piece of bad news again. I can handle all of my sadness, Alhamdulillah.
YSEALI has 4 themes, especially for Academic Fellowships: Civic Engagement, Sustainable Environment, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment, and Society Governance. YSEALI includes all ASEAN member countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam), and this program is designed for 18 - 25 years of age. Every year, there will be five Institutes on each theme, each with up to 25 Fellows. By the way this a fully funded program guys! for more information, you can check this link: https://id.usembassy.gov/yseali-academic-fellowship/ . Please prepare your documents such as passport, recommendation letter, etc.

I'm so sorry, you have to try again! |
When you want to make up a good essay, don't forget to use the formula: The introduction paragraphs include (the hook, thesis, and transition), and the body paragraphs (the main point, introduction, examples, explanation, and conclusion that ties the thesis, and transition), next is the conclusion (restated thesis, concise summary of the body, and how it ties to thesis, signal for the end of the essay). Try to write first! I wonder if you could try (?) The first time is difficult, everybody agrees with that statement, am I right?. If you want to discuss it, you can always ask me or contact me at (zahraseftasol@gmail.com) and I'll check your essay as soon as possible if I do not forget, sometimes I forget to correct it, yeahhh!!!
Just make a simple essay, bold and clear. You don't need to write too much, and the content shouldn't be boring. Although writing the essay in the first half may be difficult at first, once you are willing to try, it will become easier. The first paragraph will feel effortless and spontaneous. I suggest you be patient the first time you apply, Bismillah! do not overthink honey. Oh yeah, once again you must prepare your English certificate (this document will help you) if you want.
How does philosophy view this sentence "Effort does not betray results"?. In philosophy, the phrase "effort does not betray results" can be viewed from various perspectives, depending on the branch of philosophy being analyzed. From an ethical perspective, this sentence reflects the values of hard work and dedication. Ethical philosophies such as deontological ethics (from Immanuel Kant) might see effort as a moral obligation for humans to do their best, regardless of the end result. In the context of teleological ethics (such as utilitarianism), good outcomes would be judged as ends that justify efforts.
In epistemology, this sentence can be understood as a proposition that connects cause and effect between effort (cause) and result (effect). This implies the view that reality works according to the law of causality: effort is true knowledge to achieve a certain result. However, skeptical philosophers might question the validity of this relationship, arguing that not all efforts necessarily produce desired outcomes due to external factors or chance. Existentialists such as Jean-Paul Sartre might interpret this sentence as an expression of human freedom to determine the course of one's life through effort. The result is something that must be accepted with full responsibility as a consequence of human action.
However, existentialism also emphasizes the absurdity of life, even though the results of efforts sometimes do not match expectations even though someone has worked hard. Stoicism, which focuses on self-control and acceptance of things beyond human control, might criticize this statement. Stoics would say that effort is something we can control, but results are not entirely in our control. Therefore, they advocate focusing on effort without being too attached to results.
A determinist might reject this premise, saying that outcomes are already determined by factors outside of individual efforts, such as genetics, environment, or luck. In contrast, a proponent of the free will philosophy would see effort as a form of control over fate and as something that can change outcomes.
Philosophy offers many ways to understand this sentence. In general, the sentence reflects a belief in the relationship between cause (effort) and effect (result), but philosophy also reminds us that this relationship is not always linear or completely predictable. Focusing on effort without relying too much on an outcome is a message that is often conveyed in various philosophical traditions.
